Taos Desert Spring

Taos Desert Spring

I painted this beautiful, ancient 800-year-old village, Taos Pueblo in Northern New Mexico, illuminated by a brilliant vibrant sunset. Red Willow Creed, a small stream that flows through the village, invigorates the compound with ongoing life, vitality, and hope. The undeniable, wise, and inspiring presence of generations of elders and ancestors is expressed for me in every adobe brick. The pueblo is constructed with and rooted in te earth. My attempt with each brushstroke was to honor the Ancient Puebloan peoples and their vision.

"Hold on to what is good, even it 's a handful of earth.
Hole on to what you believe, even if it's a tree that stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do, even if it's a long way from here.
Hold on to your life, even if it's easier to let go.
Hold on to my hand, even if someday I'll be gone away from you."
